THE FIGHT I DIDN’T CHOOSE
My son had a freak accident at a swim meet.
Panic attacks followed. He searched for ways to quiet the anxiety, and life became unfamiliar for all of us.
That same year, after nearly 29 years of marriage, divorce was inevitable. We had lost our home and business six years earlier, and we were no longer moving in the same direction.
Addiction had a long history in our families, and I learned the hard way that change only happens when someone is ready. For us, that realization came too late. This time, my focus was simple: protect my kids, our peace, and myself.
THE MOMENT THAT NEARLY BROKE ME
A new house marked a new chapter.
I juggled work, survival, and quietly watching my son struggle.
Then came a moment I’ll never forget.
A psychiatrist shared words I wasn’t ready to hear: the son I once knew wasn’t the one I had now. Time felt like it stood still.
There was no manual. No clear path forward.
I held it together on the outside while falling apart inside.
Through it all, I leaned on my mother, found strength I didn’t know I had, and kept showing up—for myself and my kids.
THE TURNING POINT
I had spent nine years rebuilding my life after losing everything.
Confident in the progress I’d made, I left a job that helped us survive and eventually thrive, knowing it was time for change.
I accepted a position with a Fortune 500 company, but it didn’t take long to realize I hadn’t been told the full truth about the position. At the same time, my son faced another health scare. Trusting my instincts and knowing it wasn’t the right fit, I did the unthinkable—I turned in my resignation.
No backup plan, no safety net. However, the time came when my mental health had to come first. Grief, doubt, and uncertainty hit hard. Soon after, life made the decision for me—I became my son’s full-time caregiver.
With no clear future in sight, ideas began to spark, and my purpose slowly took shape. Designs, concepts, and vision came together with intention.
It’s taken longer than I imagined, but I’ve learned something important: being present as a parent isn’t a detour—it’s an integral part of the purpose.
THE WHY BEHIND THE BRAND
My love for sports, the battles I’ve faced, and the truth that we all go through something lit the path forward. I knew I wanted to build something bigger than myself—something rooted in resilience, purpose, and community.
Being L3GENDARY isn’t about being perfect. It’s about owning your scars, honoring your story, and rising through what tried to break you.
The “3” comes from my love of the Logo 3, but it carries a deeper meaning: breaking barriers and becoming who you were meant to be.
B3YOND WINNING is about impact over accolades, kindness in action, and the legacy you leave behind.
The L3GENDARY Wing is a symbol of elevation—a reminder that no matter what life throws at you, you have the strength to rise beyond it.
If I can help one person feel seen, supported, or reminded of their own strength, then every struggle I’ve endured led me exactly where I’m meant to be.

Disabled American Veterans (DAV) provides lifelong support to veterans of every generation address their challenges and achieve personal victories, great and small, to better thrive in civilian life.
Each year, DAV helps more than one million veterans access the care, benefits, and advocacy they’ve earned through their service.
